Color Stories: Creating a Palette with Purpose
Since I first started designing, I’ve had a natural knack for creating color palettes that just work. Back then, I didn’t know anything about color theory or formal rules—I simply followed what looked beautiful together and what made each flower shine. Over time, I’ve come to realize that this instinct is one of my favorite parts of floral design.
One of the things I love most is discovering a new ingredient—whether it’s a delicate filler, a striking foliage, or a multicolored bloom—and finding creative ways to make it stand out. Sometimes it’s about pairing unexpected colors together. Other times, it’s about pulling a subtle hue from a single stem and echoing it elsewhere in the arrangement. That kind of intentional layering brings depth and harmony, even to the most whimsical designs.
Even the most “basic” color—like white—is never really just white. It can lean green, cream, blush, or bright snow. Understanding those subtle undertones helps me blend ingredients more thoughtfully and create arrangements that feel cohesive, not chaotic.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about finding the perfect shade or texture that ties everything together. Whether I’m designing for a wedding, a special event, or a Blush & Bloom Box, my goal is always the same: to tell a story with color. One that feels fresh, balanced, and rooted in nature’s own palette.
Because at the end of the day, floral design is more than matching colors—it’s about making each bloom feel seen.
